Castelwood is located at the foot of the charming village Biron, in the purple Périgord, south-east of the Dordogne, near the Lot and the Lot-et-Garonne.

What are the opening dates?

The domain is open all year.

What are the arrival times?

Arrivals are between 4 pm and 8 pm and departures between 8 am and 10 am. In the high season, the days of arrivals and departures are Saturday and Wednesday. In the low season, arrivals and departures are on the day of your choice.
In July and August, you can avoid traffic jams by booking Wednesday to Wednesday or enjoy 10 days holiday instead of a single week.

Where can we eat?

Castelwood does not have a restaurant on site but we do have a snack bar. Fries, nuggets, burgers, salads, ice cream, everything you need to satisfy a small or a big appetite!

We also recommend the Auberge du Château in Biron. This restaurant proposes you a local, authentic and homemade cuisine. A good dose of Périgord on your plate! You can also have a drink and enjoy the terrace overlooking the castle. To avoid having to take the car, ask us: we will give you a shortcut to get there by foot.
For a delicious brunch on Sunday, head for the Ecureuil Café in Monpazier. Healthy, local and organic: enjoy!


Biron has a grocery store that also offers meals at noon. For more important groceries, a supermarket is 10 minutes away in Villeréal. To taste the Périgord terroir, multiple markets are also organized in the region, ask us the program!

Do you want to arrive with a full fridge? We will provide you with groceries, which you can order when you make your reservation.


For safety reasons, it is not possible to barbecue in front of each cottage. We offer you a space with shared barbecues to cook your sausages, skewers and corn. Besides, large tables allow you to share your meal with your neighbours. You can also, of course, enjoy your grilled food on the quiet terrace of your chalet!


We bake our bread and pastries on-site every day! Order it in advance and it will be delivered in a small locker in the name of your cottage.

What will we find in the chalets?

The day of your arrival, the chalet is clean, the beds are made and the refrigerator is cold. We provide bed and kitchen linenbut no towels!

The kitchen is fully equipped:

  • oven
  • microwave
  • dishwasher
  • gas cooker
  • fridge
  • electric kettle
  • coffee maker
  • toaster
  • and all the necessary dishes!

In the bathrooms, all chalets have a shower and sink and a separate toilet. As for our tree house Biron, a toilet is in the bathroom of the ground floor, but also on the upper floor.


The domain is equipped with Wifi. Even if the flow is sometimes slowed down in high season, you will always be able to access your mails and surf the internet. This is a free option, to be requested at the time of booking.

Your car

Castelwood is in a remote corner. Cars are essential to move around! A parking space is provided in front of each chalet. The nearest petrol station is in Villeréal, 10 minutes from the domain.


A laundry room is available next to the pool (go, take a dip while the machine is working for you!).


Pets are allowed if they are leashed and tattooed with health record. Only one animal is allowed per chalet. It will not be able to stay alone in the rental. Price: 6 € per night.

Booking conditions

For the high season, we advise you to contact us first to get the availabilities. Thank you ! All rentals are nominative and can not, under any circumstances, be subleased.

Your rental contract will only be effective after:

  • your down payment
  • the receipt of our confirmation

The deposit is 25% of the total amount of your stay. The balance must be paid at least 6 weeks before the day of arrival. In case of non-payment of the balance in the given period, the cancellation conditions will be applied.

If the rental request is less than 6 weeks, the full amount is due.

Terms of cancelation

In the event of cancellation, you will be retained, or you will remain due, as indemnity for breach of contract:

  • cancellation more than 43 days before the date of arrival: 25% of the full cost of the stay
  • cancellation less than 42 days before the scheduled arrival date, or if you do not show up on the scheduled date: the full cost of the stay.

In addition, any delay not reported within 24 hours makes the rental available, without any refund. Delayed arrival or early departure are the responsibility of the guest.

For your peace of mind, we have set up a cancellation insurance, amounting to 4% of the total cost of the stay.
