Beaumont-du-Périgord, a magnificent bastide
The particularity of Beaumont-du-Périgord is to be the first English royal bastide. Nestled in a hilly landscape, the bastide was founded in 1272 and the only main entrance of the village, is the archway Luzier, and is still remaining.
You must know that this archway is now classified as a historical monument. By entering this ancient fortified city, you will be transported to the Middle Ages. In each alley, you will feel the unique imprint of time.
In the bastide, the fortified Church St-Laurent will amaze you with its English Gothic style.
On the outside, its 30-meter-high tower adorned with battlements, impresses, as does the minutia of details on its portal. Do not neglect the interior of the church, which is no less majestic.
This building dating from the 13th century is a wealth of Beaumont-du-Périgord and it would be a shame to forget that in your visit.
