Beaumont-du-Périgord, a magnificent fortified town

Beaumont-du-Périgord is unique in being the first English royal bastide. Nestling in a hilly landscape, the bastide was founded in 1272, and all that remains intact is the Luzier gateway, which serves as the entrance to the village.
