The Lot valley, some places not to be missed

The Lot is above all a farandole of places, each more incredible than the last. Visiting them will give you an insight into the culture of yesteryear, which has left its mark on the department's villages, caves and buildings. The Valentré medieval bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of the most famous sights in Cahors. Take the time to cross it on foot, and its enigmatic legend might just be revealed to you...
When you come to the Lot, make a stop at the Pech Merle cave. More real than life, the cave is authentic and will send you 25,000 years back in time. Your children will be dazzled by its 70 animal and human figures, its kilometre of galleries, its 7 rooms of mineral concretions and other prehistoric paintings.
Round off your tour of the Lot region with a visit to the Padirac chasm. The largest chasm in France and undoubtedly the most fascinating in Europe, the visit extends no less than 103 metres underground. You can take a boat trip on the underground river. A timeless experience guaranteed!

Enjoying nature in the Lot

We also love the Lot for the diversity of its landscapes and that special feeling of fulfilment. Whether you're a keen sportsman or not, there's a whole host of activities you can try to get as close as possible to these dazzling landscapes. Take the whole family on board a canoe or gabare for a trip along the water, with the river's wildlife as your backdrop. The water quality of the Lot is ideal for refreshing swims. You can even organise a fishing session with your children. With 1,500 kilometres of streams, 400 kilometres of rivers and 35 lakes and ponds to choose from, the Lot is perfect for fishing.
Take your children on an adventure along the paths of the Causse and discover the Lot's natural heritage. For an hour or a day, you can hike one of the many trails.
If you prefer cycling, the Lot valley is the perfect place for it. You'll be able to see all the must-see places on your bike. Horse riding is also available.
