Our vision of the self-catering village

Defining Castelwood is quite a task! These are no ordinary holiday rentals. These are chalets in the heart of the Dordogne. It's a happy medium for families: you're on your own, but you can still enjoy activities. That's why we think the name village de gîtes is so appropriate.

Because Castelwood is not a gîte, it's not a campsite, it's not just another holiday rental. No, it's first and foremost about conviviality. And a village means people, sharing and activities. And that's what we had in mind right from the start: a place full of charm where children can run around, parents can relax and all holidaymakers can talk to each other!

The gîte village, the ideal solution for the whole family

We know that everyone in a family wants different things: parents often want to relax and children want to play with friends! The gîte village offers a solution that will appeal to the whole family. The chalets are available to rent. Each chalet is self-contained, just like a self-catering cottage you might have rented. You'll have your own bedrooms and bathrooms (fortunately!), as well as your own kitchen and terrace with garden furniture. Most of the terraces overlook the forest. If you want to reconnect with nature, in peace and quiet, this is the place to be.

But when you want to share, when your children are wandering around looking for friends, when they want to explore the surrounding area in complete safety, they'll be happy too. A play area with trampoline, swing and slide is reserved for children, so they can play for hours on end, not far from you. You can also relax by the swimming pool, while your children are surrounded by friends and can splash about happily in the paddling pool.

The independence of a self-catering cottage, the services of a holiday village, and the friendliness to boot

Because that's the secret of our accommodation: combining the advantages of a self-catering gîte with the possibilities of shared accommodation for a holiday that's quiet but not isolated! In the village, some facilities are shared: the swimming pool, barbecues, a petanque pitch, a badminton court, a table tennis table, table football, a library, board games... You're sure to have plenty to do. And if your travelling companions don't feel like accompanying you, the advantage is that a neighbouring chalet may be willing to do so.

But when you feel like keeping to yourselves, there's nothing to stop you cooking your sausages on the barbecues and eating them in your chalet. No one will hold it against you, everyone is free to do as they please (and that's all to the good!).

Another advantage is that we live in the village. So, during your stay, we'll always be on hand to advise you on the must-see tourist attractions, the hidden corners of the region, or the opening hours of the grocery shop. All you have to do is ask.

Our vision of the self-catering village

Mobile home parks are not our cup of tea! We love charm and nature. Our wooden chalets were built by us and we feel at home here. Our park was built in harmony with nature, with respect for the environment. That's why, although the accommodation, although individual, is grouped together in space, with that village feel, there's never any oppression. The forest is right in front of you as soon as you set foot outside your chalet.

We wanted to create a place where everyone feels at home. A place with space, surrounded by nature. A place where a warm welcome is paramount. In the centre of the village, the communal areas such as the swimming pool and barbecue are, year after year, the places where everyone likes to meet up. People bond.

In this way, our gîte village combines the advantages of several tourist accommodations, without the disadvantages. The independence of a rural gîte but the activities for children of a holiday village, the friendliness of camping but the comfort of 'hard' accommodation. A night out in the countryside, but close to charming Dordogne villages such as Biron, Issiegac or Monpazier. It's the perfect way to spend your family holiday! Make your reservation now.
